Atlas The A.T.L.A.S. Arch

ENHANCE YOUR SOUND WITH LIMITLESS MOUNTING PLACEMENT IN A TIMELESS CLASSIC DESIGN.

OLD SCHOOL STYLE, CUTTING-EDGE PERFORMANCE
A modern take on the classic rail consolette mount, The A.T.L.A.S. Arch offers infinite tom positioning and solid tom mounting with enhanced sustain and resonance in each drum.

SUSPENSION AND ISOLATION:
Spare the Drill, Save the Shell!
The Arch easily mounts to your bass drum by replacing two lugs with two included A.T.L.A.S. Mounts; NO DRILLING REQUIRED.

The Suspension is IN the Mount
Utilizing the revolutionary new A.T.L.A.S. mount, the rail and sliding tom mounting arm are totally isolated from the shell; insuring the tone of each individual drum without "cross-talk" when played together.

INSTALLING YOUR A.T.L.A.S. ARCH:

Installing The A.T.L.A.S. Mount and Atlas Arch

  • Select two adjacent lugs that will put your tom of choice in the best position over your bass drum
  • Remove the drum head, hoop, and selected lugs from the bass drum.
  • Position the A.T.L.A.S. Mount with the tension rod insert facing toward the bearing edge. Fit the bottom of the A.T.L.A.S. mount using the thicker of the two sets of included gaskets, adjusting the mounting bolt spacing to fit the existing lug holes. (for toms, use the thin gasket; for bass drums, use the thick gasket.) For Tom mounting, locate the A.T.L.A.S. mount in one of batter head lug positions.
  • Affix the washers and nuts to each mount until the mount can not be shifted in the mounting holes by hand. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN.
  • With each mount secured and heads/hoops re-attached to desired tuning, place bass drum in playing position.
  • Slide Keystone clamp around the rail and clamp in place. Loosely connect knurled posts to the rail using the included hex screws. The posts should slide freely in the slots. Slide the posts into the Bass drum mounted ATLAS mounts, and clamp them in place. Then, use a 5mm Allen Wrench to tighten the mounting posts to the rail.
  • Loosen the Arch clamp of the sliding tom arm to place arm into position, then tighten firmly. Loosen the 12mm L-arm ball clamp and position for preferred angle.

**Please Note: The ATLAS mount has been tested extensively on Ludwig's current product offering. It is designed to minimize stress applied to the shell, however Ludwig is not responsible for any shell damage related to this product.

Atlas The A.T.L.A.S. Top Mount

THE WORLD'S ONLY INTEGRATED LUG SUSPENSION SYSTEM AND MOUNTING BRACKET (PAT.PEND)

Create a suspended mounting location anywhere on your drum by simply replacing a lug!

PRODUCT INFO:
The A.T.L.A.S. (or Aerial Tom Lug Attached Suspension) Mount creates a mounting location anywhere on a drum, NO DRILLING REQUIRED. It simply attaches to the shell by replacing a lug (fits 25mm to 43mm holes spacing- including Ludwig Small & Large Classic, and Keystone Lugs).

SUSPENSION AND ISOLATION:
The Suspension is IN the Mount
The 12.7mm clamp on the A.T.L.A.S. Mount is isolated from shell contact by two hardened steel pins, floating on elastomer mounts over the integrated tension lug.

The Proof is in the Sound!
Unlike traditional isolation systems that mount the drum around the tension rods, the A.T.L.A.S. mount effectively separates the isolation system from the drum; allowing the drum to resonate as an independent unit. The result is a smoother decay, longer sustain, and increased resonance. The sustain plots (shown here) clearly show the effect.

Increased Set-Up Flexibility
Auxiliary cymbal arms, accessories, and floor tom legs are positioned with ease and totally isolated from the shell. Enlarge your set-up by integrating the A.T.L.A.S. mount with additional Atlas Tom and Cymbal holders.

INSTALLING YOUR A.T.L.A.S. MOUNT:

  • Based on where the existing lugs are mounted, select the drum's best mounting point (for toms, we recommend the top row on either side of the badge.)
  • Remove the drum head, rims and selected lug from the drum.
  • Insert the edge of the top attachment bolt into the top lug hole in the shell. Align the bottom attachment bolt to be inserted into the bottom lug hole.
  • Attach A.T.L.A.S. Mount onto the shell with both attachment bolts through the lug holes. Put the washers on both attachment bolts and secure each 10mm nut to each bolt with no spacing or slack on the inner shell (Tighten bolts until you can not shift the base of the mount by hand. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN)
  • Resecure the drum head on the shell and tune as normal.
  • Secure the included Memory Lock onto the intended 12.7mm mounting rod and position to proper angle. The ATLAS Mount is engineered to fit snug to the Memory Lock at both top and bottom locations, so be sure to position it where it will most effectively allow for angle and height position.
